CPC: Can You Tell Just By Looking?
In CFA, CPC or Colorpoint Carrier is a designation that indicates a non-pointed Persian has Himalayan in its ancestry. Can you tell the difference between a Persian that is a CPC and one that is “pure” Persian just by looking at it? Take this test to see.
CPCs: Let’s Be Accurate
CFA designate all cats with Himalayan in their background as CPCs (Colorpoint Carriers), including a 3000-prefix registration number. In 2005, a DNA test was developed to determine whether a can carried the colorpoint gene, or not. Should CFA consider changing their registration numbers to accurately reflect whether a non-pointed cat is a carrier of the pointed gene? Many breeders say yes.
