Dry Eye In Cats

Tears are essential to the health of the eye. Dry eye in cats , also called keratoconjunctivitis sicca, is a condition in which the glands of the eyelids are unable to produce a sufficient volume of tears to lubricate and protect the eye, keeping it moist. Dry eye is a serious condition that can result in severe pain and blindness if it is not addressed quickly.

Jean Bassett, PaJean Persians

Jean Bassett of PaJean Persians passed away on March 31, 2010. Jean was very active in the cat fancy, campaigning many Persians to national wins along with her daughter, CFA judge, Pam Bassett. Noted for her big personality, distinctive hair color and passion for all things Southern, Jean will be very much missed.

A five year genetic study of over 1000 felines of 22 breeds confirms that the domestication of cats about 10,000 years ago originated in an area known as the Fertile Crescent, which stretches from Turkey to northern Africa and to modern-day Iraq and Iran.
