The Persian has been around in existence for a very long time. The tabbies – in brown, silver, and red – have been recognized in the Americas since the 1890s.  Blues and creams were added in the 1960s, as well as the recognition of the mackerel pattern.

In fact, it was a red tabby male named GC Eastbury Trigo who has the distinction of being CFA’s first Grand Champion – of ANY breed or color – back in 1930.
