Most cats do not like dressing up. Or to be accurate, I should say that most cats do not like being dressed up. It is we humans who like to put our kitties in costume, and because our cats truly love us, they go along with wearing holiday-themed ensembles… at least long enough to have a photo taken. Please enjoy this glimpse into kitty Santas, feline elves and other assorted cats in Christmas attire.
The classic holiday feline fashion is to wear a Santa hat. The Santa hat may be worn centered on the head, or set at a jaunty angle over one ear, as demonstrated by the litter of brown tabby Maine Coon kittens below.
If a Santa hat is a bit too plain, choose an over-sized hat then add a sprig of holly or tinsel to add some pizzazz to the chapeau. The look is very modern.
While a Santa hat is a popular choice, a feline fashionista might choose a more unusual option. How about reindeer antlers?
Not every feline is pleased to wear a hat, even for a short time. If your kitty is just not happy with wearing a hat (like the British Shorthair girl below) she needs a different option for holiday festive-wear.
For kitties who don’t like wearing a hat, an elegant holiday-themed collar may be the answer. The stunning pointed Exotic Shorthair pictured below has a red velvet ribbon tied in a bow around her neck. On the ends of the ribbon are silver bells that jingle when the kitty walks. Tres Chic!

This stylish Oriental Shorthair is rocking out a hat, a scarf and a bag. Eschewing the traditional Santa hat, the kitty is wearing a knitted woolen hat with a white pompom — and ear holes! The hat is complimented with a matching scarf and green ‘bag’ complete with wrapped gifts for the family.
This Persian kitten also likes the hat and neckwear style, sporting the traditional Santa hat and a Christmas bowtie emblazoned with snowflakes. Being fashionable can be tiring, so he is taking a little catnap before the party.
For the high-end ‘haute couture’ kitty, a collar or hat is not enough of a “LOOK”. Some cats enjoy wearing a full Santa suit — especially if you are a hairless Sphynx. After-all, winter nights are chilly, and a red outfit with fuzzy white trim and a complimentary black belt is definitely cozy.
If Santa is not your thing, perhaps you prefer to go full speed in a head-to-toe Elf ensemble complete with a present wrapped in pawprint paper.
If Santa or an elf are not to your taste, your cat might want to be a snowman, especially if you add a straw broom as an accessory.

For cats who really get into the Christmas spirit, even a full body costume is not enough. The Maine Coons below like to accessorize.
