If you just read the article titled, Scoop on Poop, you have learned all about the technique of “reading” cat poop like a fortune teller reads a deck of tarot cards. I figure that while you are in the groove, you might as well learn how to make cat poop cookies too :-)… and it’s PURRRRR-fect for a Halloween Party.
Recipe For Cat Poop Cookies
There are several common recipes for this delicious gourmand treat. Of course, I am not sure you will find any of them in Martha Stewart’s cookbook, despite her love of Himalayans.
Chocolate Ingredients:
- ½ cup honey
- 2/3 cup (1 and 1/3 stick) butter, margarine or lard
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp vanilla or peppermint extract
- 2 cups whole wheat flour
- 1/3 cup cocoa powder
- Grape-Nuts™ cereal
Gingerbread Ingredients:
- ¼ cup honey
- ¼ cup molasses
- 2/3 cup (1 and 1/3 stick) butter, margarine or lard
- 1 egg
- 2 and 1/3 cups whole wheat flour
- spices: ginger, cinnamon and cloves to taste
- Grape-Nuts™ cereal
Extra Additives for that truly unique look:
- coconut (tapeworms)
- chocolate chips
- butterscotch chips
- peanut butter chips
- cooked spaghetti or ramen noodles (roundworms)
- corn
- peanuts
- M&M’s™
Directions:
- Microwave the honey just until it bubbles slightly -about 1 minute.
- Add the butter and the molasses to the honey.
- Add the egg.
- Mix well.
- Now add all the other ingredients including any “Extras” you have chosen to include.
- Chill 1 hour in the freezer or several hours in the fridge.
- Next, roll dough logs about the diameter of cat poops. Make them various lengths of course.
- Roll the logs in grape-nuts and bake at 350 degrees till done – between 10 to 20 minutes.
- Serve in a new disposable cat litter box on a bed of Grape-Nuts™ cereal, with a new, unused cat litter scoop.
- You can get a lovely effect by dipping the scoop in melted chocolate or pudding.
- Mixing brown sugar with the Grape-Nuts™ makes the cookie sweeter while also adding a realistic icky look.
Optional Recipe
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup honey
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2/3 cup butter
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup wheat and barley nugget cereal (eg. Grapenuts TM)
Directions
- Microwave honey on high until bubbly (about 1 minute).
- Stir in the margarine.
- Add the egg and mix well.
- Stir in the flour, cocoa and vanilla.
- Mix well and chill dough for several hours in the refrigerator.
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
- Roll chunks of the chilled dough into cylindrical shapes in order to resemble cat poop.
- Roll cookies in cereal and place on ungreased baking sheet.
- Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 10 to 15 minutes.
- Serve cookies in a new litter box on a bed of malted barley cereal.
- Use a new litter scoop to remove cookies.
- Makes 12 servings
