Acidophilus

The cat's digestive tract is host to about 400 different kinds of bacteria and yeasts. Among these, Lactobacillus acidophilus and its relatives help maintain the normal balance of beneficial bacteria in the intestines.

Dr. Joseph Cheesman Thompson imported a brown female cat, Wong Mau, to America from Burma. Wong Mau was bred with Tai Mau, a seal point Siamese, and then bred with her son to produce dark brown kittens that became the foundation of a new, distinctive strain of Burmese.
